Welcome to the
Wildwood Soup Kitchen Website

The Wildwood Soup Kitchen is staffed by caring and loving volunteers inspired by the Gospel mandate to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, and welcome the stranger. We are a true ecumenical ministry with approximately 150 volunteers from nearly 30 churches in the Wildwood area.

The Wildwood Soup Kitchen serves the poor, the hungry, and the lonely by providing healthy, nutritious and appetizing meals to all who come to us. We also deliver meals to shut-ins and others who are unable to come to the Soup Kitchen. Every person who comes to us for assistance is welcomed, without regard to race, sex, age, color, religion, national origin, handicap, or income.

The Wildwood Soup Kitchen is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  To arrange for home delivery of meals (Mon - Fri) to someone living in the Wildwood area who is sick, disabled or homebound, call Don Lozier at (352) 751-5144 (or cell: 352-217-3707).

Volunteers

The Wildwood Soup Kitchen is blessed to have over 150 caring and loving volunteers inspired by the Gospel mandate to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, and welcome the stranger. We have no paid employees.

These selfless volunteers who perform a variety of essential jobs:

  • Cooks, captains, assistants, servers, cleaners, as well as substitutes to assist on short notice
  • Drivers, regular & substitutes, who deliver meals to shut-ins and the elderly
  • Collectors of foods donated by businesses and organizations
  • Bakers of desserts (cakes, pies, etc.)
  • Administrative or clerical assistants.

Although we generally have a sufficient number of volunteers to handle our daily operations, we occasionally experience a particular need, especially during the summer months when some of our volunteers head north.

Because we are blessed with a full slate of volunteers, we usually have no pressing need for additional help. To join our team in the event of an opening, please send your name and phone number, either to our mailing address or our email address. Someone will
contact you.
